Calling all Kentucky braille readers! The 2017 Kentucky Regional Braille Challenge will take place on the campus of the Kentucky School for the Blind and at the American Printing House for the Blind. This exciting competition is open to all students who are braille readers. Students do not have to be reading on grade level to participate. There will be prizes for all students, fun activities, events for parents and teachers, and more at this exciting event, which celebrates braille literacy and the joys of reading braille.
The Braille Challenge® is a national program of the Braille Institute of America, designed to challenge the skills of students across America in areas such as braille reading and comprehension, speed and accuracy, spelling, proofreading, and tactile graphics, as well as acknowledging outstanding braille readers. Last year, over 1,000 students competed in regional and local events.
All students are welcome to participate. Students working on grade level will be competing for a trip to the national Braille Challenge® in Los Angeles, California, in June. The 10 highest scorers in each level travel to Los Angeles to compete in the national finals.
