My name is Allison Chandler and I am the Director of Special Education. I am very excited to be a part of the Kentucky School for the Blind’s strong commitment to hard work and history of accomplishments.
This is the start of my fourth year at KSB (2017-2018). Previously, I taught for eleven years with the Breckinridge County Public Schools; four in elementary education and seven as the Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities, Special Education teacher at Breckinridge County Middle School. I was also the district Safe Crisis Management trainer for five years and was the head of the special education department at the middle school for two years. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master of Arts in Teaching - Learning and Behavior Disorders. I have completed my Level I and 2 Director of Special Education and Rank 1. This year I am beginning my certification program for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired through the University of Kentucky. I am excited to bring my experience in special education to partner with each of you in continuing the excellence at KSB.
I feel honored and privileged to be a part of the incredible leadership team beginning at KSB this year. I believe positive attitudes, high-expectations and open communication are very important to ensure a productive and positive learning environment.
